About the project
Our goal was to provide Christmas presents to the children with disabilities at The
Boarding School Nikola Dramaliev in Samokov, Bulgaria. The
children also needed clothes and food, toys and books. Some of the
kids wrote letters to Santa Clause and we tried to find the
present they were wishing for or at least brought them something
that made them happy in the Christmas night.
The
school is a home of 106 children, most of whom with mental
disabilities, between the age of 6 and 16, coming from low
income and social status families. (See below
pictures of the
kids). The boarding school is funded by the state and the local
municipality. Read a letter

Believe it or not but
a child is entitled to 25 cents per day for boarding and living?!
Yes, you read it right, it is not a typo- with 25 cents a day the
kid needs to buy food, clothes, medication, notebooks, chewing gum…!
We learned about the
school from the BG charity organization
“Human”. The organization has recently raised funds for the school
renovation. It has also raised money to enable
the school to buy food by mid November.
All donations that we raised were sent to organization "Human" in
Bulgaria. They bought the presents and delivered them to the school.
